Book covers featuring cats

Thought this topic might have come up earlier, but I don't see it?

It might be possible that I purposely traded in one unread copy of Not Wanted on the Voyage for the sake of securing this (more expensive) copy instead, solely so that I could have this cover stare into my soul.

Nice idea. That is not a book I know but I would definitely take a look if I saw that cover :)

I couldn't resist this face when I saw the book in a shop

and this one was a present from a family member shortly after I got my first cat and combines my love of cats and ancient history

Here is a lovely Paul Gallico book cover:

and here is one of the original Doreen Tovey cat books' covers:

Doreen Tovey is the reason I started keeping Siamese.

It's like The Hobbit but the hero is handsome :)

>4 Zambaco: It is years since I read Thomasina. I'll have to see if I can track down a copy.

>5 Jarandel: That's a great cover on Las Guerre des Clans not a series I have read though

>6 morningwalker: Another cat book I don't recognise. It definitely sounds like an unusual one.

>7 Darth-Heather: and >8 anna_in_pdx: ditto It is a very good book. That's a different cover then mine and the cats are more visible in that one.

>9 LibraryCin: Unfortunately not available at my local library. Another one to look out for

>10 2wonderY: Great title and a second one I never heard of.

>11 calm: It was an unusual one but it was fun imagining all the famous people as cat personalities. I wish I had known more about Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas before I had read it though.

Such wonderful covers! Of course they are working with the most beautiful animals so it's hard to get them wrong....

Book of Night with Moon by Diane Duane (which is also a great book about cat guardians, let's say)

Here's a little known title, well worth reading if you can find a copy:

I've never read that one - and I love Robert Westall. Must find a copy forthwith....

24Zambaco

It is, isn't it? I am now on my fourth Siamese and Doreen Tovey is right - for sheer bad behaviour they are hard to beat.

25Zambaco

Have just ordered a second-hand copy of Blitzcat and am looking forward to reading it Thank you for reminding me about Robert Westall, a brilliant writer of supernatural fiction who was also a great cat lover.

26galadriel007

it's really fun, and it's stuck with me over the years.

>5 Jarandel:, the one that got my attention is Divine Endurance, at first for the cover and then for the oddness. I've not read Gwyneth Jones yet.

28Zambaco
Aug 2, 2018, 12:24 pm

Divine Endurance is good, but not as cat-centric as the cover promises.

Edited: Aug 2, 2018, 2:30 pm

also, Mary Stewart's Touch Not The Cat
doesn't really have much to do with cats, but i read it for th etitle alone

Just perused back through the covers posted so far. A good number of them are black cats. Did everyone know yesterday (Aug 17) was black cat appreciation day? :-)

Edited: Aug 19, 2018, 7:50 am

High time they had a bit of appreciation! And here's another black cat on the original Blitzcat cover:
