What a delightful picture book!

My children (who are older than the target age for a book like this) and I had a heard the author interviewed on one of our favorite podcasts. We were excited to get this book in the mail, and it did not disappoint. After we finished the story, we went back through, studying the beautiful illustrations. If this had been available when my kids were littler, it would definitely have been one we read over and over and over. This book would make a great gift for all the young readers in your life!… (more)

This is a cute picture book. The illustrations are lovely, and I particularly enjoy the maps on the endpapers. The story has a Narnian feel, but I was slightly disappointed that in the end the plot was reduced to a lesson about friendship being the real treasure...when there wasn't any physical treasure in the story.

The cover of this book caught my eye while going through the list of books for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I enjoy beautifully illustrated animal stories and this looked like a promising addition to the genre! The book is about ten inches square, with a map on the inside covers, and the illustrations are vibrant and gorgeous. Depending on age and sensitivity ranges, it's a not-TOO-scary adventure with a feel-good ending. If you have a young reader who enjoyed stories by Beatrix Potter and Jill Barklem, this would be a good series to follow up with!… (more)

I received this book as part of the LibraryThing EarlyReviewer program, and my 7 year old (a mystery lover) and I read it together. The illustrations are BEAUTIFUL. The mystery was a bit pale in comparison but we are definitely going to seek out the others in this series. My sensitive kiddo didn't like the mean coyotes but did enjoy spotting them hiding in the background.
