Great history and explanation of the calamity we did to ourselves.

All the Devils Are Here is a well written narrative that manages to highlight the individual stories without obscuring institutional and path dependent explanations. ( )

A good look at the 2008 financial crisis and the sub-prime mortgage issue. The authors name the people who almost destroyed our economy. The details of the mortgage and banking system are so complicated and hard to understand, this book helps make sense of what was done to all of us. ( )

Is this book perfect? I am sure people smarter than me could point out problems but that wouldn't change the fact that it is a must read. It gives the scope, the magnitude and perspective of greed and willful ignorance that led to the crisis. It is truly shocking, just beyond even my tolerance for stupidity. I watched an interview with the authors and you could tell they were mad. They were upset by what they had found and I understand why now. ( )

Having been a stock broker, this book was highly interesting, and I have to say that I knew this was going to happen. ( )

Two of our finest business journalists have written a thorough account of the origins of the financial crisis of 2008. More than offering just a backward look, it helps explain the most troubling business headlines of the moment, as well as those that are certain to come.

First words
The seeds of financial disaster were sown more than thirty years ago when three smart, ambitious men, working sometimes in concert--allies in a cause they all believed in--and sometimes in opposition--competitors trying to gain advantage over each other--created a shiny new financial vehicle called the mortgage-backed security.
