DEAD RECKONGINGS is a twice-annual literary journal focusing on Horror and Supernatural fiction. It, along with the British journal Wormwood, are the crème de la creme of literary critique in this area. Each issue contains about 18 essays and reviews written by authors and scholars on the subject. The editor, S.T. Joshi, is considered the world authority on weird fiction.

I found the essays and reviews incredibly helpful and insightful. They pointed me in the direction of books and authors I may not have discovered otherwise and, in other cases, steered me clear of stuff I know I wouldn't like, thereby saving me money and disappointment. Each essay/review is kept under 2,000 words forcing the reviewer to keep things concise and not ramble. I have all 5 journals to date, and I look forward to reading the others. For what it is, one couldn't ask for anything better. ( )
