I instantly connected with the stress Barbara felt waiting to get her report card. Most students worry about grades and the author did an excellent job conveying the feeling of anxiety. The story has the characters in sixth grade and brings in many of the typical events happening at that time in a child's life. The teasing from T.J., her male nemesis is right on target. The story line introduces T.J.'s life and all the troubles he has to deal with. The ending was disappointing. Things were wrapped up in three pages and although we knew things were resolved, it almost felt as though she wanted to wrap things up and the reader is left without enough details. ( )
