The pacing is herky-jerky due to the nature of the initial release (seven-page monthly chapters), and perhaps these collections could be better presented (at least identifying the artists when it changes). Still, it is top-notch exploration of the super-hero genres from the original writer. ( ) There was controversy when this comic was first published as it had detailed drawings of one of the characters giving birth, which Moore and Davis sourced from a book on childbirth to ensure its accuracy. These same detractors didn't seem to mind the graphic violence and sexual content, but "Oh, my God! A comic showing a vagina with a baby coming out of it! Won't somebody think of the children! It must be banned!!" I was not shocked to see a detailed depiction of a woman giving birth as I am reliably informed it was how I myself entered the world, although I can't honestly say that I remember it. Hey, it was the '60s! If I can't remember it, I must have been there, right?! no reviews | add a review
"Middle-aged reporter Michael Moran has rediscovered his godlike alter ego Miracleman. At the height of the Cold War, the British military attempted to murder Miracleman and his companions. Today, he has eliminated the government threat to his family, but a far greater danger lays in wait. His creator, Dr. Emil Gargunza, has put in motion plans decades in the making. Gargunza's intentions for Miracleman's wife and unborn child will set the stage for a confrontation between creator and creation, revealing the true origins of Project Zarathustra and leading to a life-or-death battle in the Parguayan jungle."--Back cover.
