This was such a fun read. Fantasy meets steampunk in this adventure that will take you deep into this magical world. Jade is a great lead character, and her determination is something to be admired. Miria and Dan were also fun characters, although I don't want to give anything away. The story moved along fairly smoothly, and it was easy to fall into it. I loved the inventive machines that populated this world, and thought Thompson did a great job of bringing them to life. Highly recommend for dragon, fantasy, and steampunk lovers. ( )

Part 2 of a series, this Young Adult novel is set in a steampunk world where the race is on to find a strange magic library. It is key to winning the war against the corrupt, and hated, King Jarrod.

Jade and Kaylen were friends; now they are on opposite sides (Kaylen now works for Jarrod). The library, by itself, is not the subject of the search; they are looking for a portal inside the library. Kaylen has to decide who, and what, is worth sacrificing. Jade, and a dragon-taming witch named Miria, have to stop Kaylen from opening the portal between worlds before it's too late.

This one is really good. The author has a very imaginative style, and has written a very colorful fantasy tale. It has action, and steampunk and dragons. It may be intended as a Young Adult novel, but adults will also enjoy it. ( )

This steampunk/fantasy tale is about Jade, a teen whose father has just been exiled to the Isle of Dragons. It's a place of untamed magic that may, or may not, actually exist. Jade is also on the run from the royal army in a giant mechanical centipede. A person does not just hire a boat to take them to the Isle of Dragons. The only way to get there is on the back of an actual dragon.

This is an excellent story. It's just weird enough, without being too weird. The reader can almost hear the clanking of the gears of the mechanical animals. It's got good characters and good writing. Even though it is officially a Young Adult tale, adults will also love it. ( )
