A brilliant short story about a man with no past, who, with the help of an unknown agency goes after bad guys and give them their just desserts.
I love the fact that the stories get straight to the point without too much drama. ( )

I love Dean Koontz and am intrigued by this character, Nameless. This first story is a great start to this series. Nameless appears in a town out of nowhere and saves the day. He not only protects victims from their perpetrator, he serves a vigilante type of justice. I look forward to reading more; I really want to get to know this character. ( )

Quick short story. I'll keep reading about nameless and his vigilante adventures. ( )

“Nameless, a vigilante nomad, stripped of his memories and commissioned to kill.”

In the first story of this series, “In the Heart of the Fire”, we see Nameless visit a woman (Jennifer) who has two children. A corrupt and sleazy sheriff (Soakes) is pretending interest in Jennifer when he is really interested in her ten-year-old daughter, Seraphina. It is up to Nameless to take down the creepy cop.

I really enjoyed this short-story. I felt sorry for the victims of Sheriff Soakes and I was looking forward to Soakes getting what he deserved in the end. Nameless was an interesting and likable character. He is clairvoyant and can see the past, and the future, at times.

I’m looking forward to reading other stories in this series. ( )

There are two reasons I was hesitant to start this series. 1) I'm not the biggest fan of short stories, not enough time to build the characters and 2) Dean Koontz is a hit and miss for me. But based on the ratings I decided to give it a try. I am 110% glad I did. I loathe injustices in the world so this series hit the spot for me personally. And I loved the ending. Dont want to give it away but it was unexpected, surprising but also plausible. ( )
