The second in the series that I purchased and read--our store had them all signed and shelved--it was closest to my heart due to its setting. I loved Dyed in the Blood, the first I read, because the east coast setting seemed exotic, but this one relates to my prairie roots. The author's past as a game warden allowed a feel of authenticity in descriptions of offices and officers' dealings with cretins, but it's the environmental protection that gets me. The old rapper who disappeared for his own safety was a strong character. Loved it. A few typos in the series, which I annoyed the author by pointing out. Gave my three books to my mother, who appears never to have received them; feel I will buy them again. ( ) no reviews | add a review
