An Amazon Charts bestseller. Emma's darkest secrets are buried in the past. But the truth can't stay hidden for long. Emma is a loving wife, a devoted mother...and an involuntary killer. For years she's been hiding the dead body of the teacher who seduced her as a teen. It's a secret that might have stayed buried if only her life had been less perfect. But with a buyer lined up for their old house, Emma can't leave without destroying every last trace of her final revenge... Returning to the shallow grave in the garden, she finds it empty. The body is gone. Panicked, Emma confesses to her husband. But this is only the beginning. Soon, Alex will discover things about her he'll wish he'd learned sooner. And others he'll long to forget.… (more)

I really enjoyed this book. I have learned that kindle unlimited has a few thrillers that are really good. Where some people do not enjoy the chapters written from different character's perspective (and in this case time periods), I have read many books where this is the case. When not many characters are involved in the story line, I think this form of writing provides the reader with all the facts and perspectives of the story line from multiple characters' point-of-view.
In this story, the reader goes back and forth between the characters in their past and present predicaments, providing a fuller story of the characters' lives.
I read this story in a few days because I couldn't put it down. Where you sort of know the direction of the plot, you still are left wondering and hanging on. It was very well written and believable. This could and probably has happened to people in real life. There isn't once where you are thinking, "this would never happen like this.". Where most people might see spelling errors or wrong usage of words, the reader must realize it is written over in Europe. It does not take away from the story. Readers are not here to judge spelling errors but to be engrossed in the story. I don’t think the errors took away from the story at all.
It is very sad to think that this kind of crime happens with both male and female adults and students, and that lives can be turned upside down with lies and betrayal.
Again, this was a very good story that was well written and had believable characters and story line. I look forward to reading more books by this author. If you are looking for a thriller to give a new chance to this one is worth it.

This was an OK book. It skipped back & forth between 3 people from 2003 to 2017. Emma, her teacher Luke, & her husband Alex. It touched on the "grooming & abuse" between the teacher & student. I thought the ending was a little too convenient. ( )

A bit too slow

The silent victim by Caroline Mitchell, was a slow burn for me. It was a good book but it flowed so slowly that I would lose interest and have to pick it back up after a few chapters. I do believe the premise of the story is good but the story could've been told in a much shorter time. Would I recommend this book?, Yes. ( )

The story is told by three different narrators. It is a story of the sexual abuse and grooming of the young and vulnerable. Although I didn't actually take to Emma, the main character, one still views what happened to her as horrifying. Chilling that we have sociopaths like this in our world. ( )
