This guide to each state's official state bird, flower, and insect, along with other fun facts, is indispensable for the upper-elementary grades. Including biographical sketches of famous Americans, inventions, resources, and records, this book is unique because of its inclusion of endangered species and personal approach to the subject matter. I think this is an excellent resource for the classroom. It has vibrant pictures and maps for students to look at and learn about each individual state. It starts with a map of the US and then breaks it down, and page by page, gives characteristics of each state. I also like how the information is presented. Instead of the traditional paragraph form, the information is put into bullets, captions, and labels. There are pictures and a brief description of how they relate to the state that page represents. I also like how the states are presented in alphabetical order. This makes it easy for students to find a certain state. In the last couple pages of the book, it had pictures of all of the state flags and an index of landmarks, presidents, geographical locations and a lot of other characteristics that will give you the page number of the state it corresponds with. no reviews | add a review
