I got my copy from NoiseTrade. I'd hoped to pick up some new tips, but didn't really learn anything.
If you're really new to self-publishing, there is some useful information, but do your own research as well.
At one point the author endorses the idea of review swapping, but this is actually against Amazon's terms of service and could get the authors involved in trouble.
The list of competitions to enter is filled with ones with entry fees that are dauntingly high.
The start of the book had pages (13?) of reviews. If I've already bought/downloaded it, I don't need that sort of filler. The end section is interviews.
Overall, the author doesn't say much about how she, specifically, sold 80,000 books, just talks about self-publishing, and things you can try. ( )

A great resource that points out a lot of things. I found two things a bit frustrating

1) She talks about how she sold Children's books. Not a problem, so much as it seems like it should have been mentioned in the description or something. The principles can be applied to other categories and genres, but it would have been nice to see some info comparing her children's books and adult books so the reader could see her use those principles on a wider range.

2) There are some subjects she mentions but just breezes over. I imagine it's because she's trying to get the reader to buy more information from her. She has a course on using Goodreads and her author remake course, which go into these things in more detail. It's fine, but it kind of gives more of an impression of an overview of what she's done, rather than a tell-all of how you can do it, too.

Overall, I think the information is helpful, it just wasn't as thorough as I had anticipated. ( )

I often read 'how to' books especially when I can learn how to add to my personal revenue stream. This book hit the nail on the head. It has the best ideas and presents them in a concise format. It will now replace at least a dozen other books in my library. All the information presented is up to date and easy to follow. Recommended for authors, would be authors, and other interested parties. ( )

So you just wrote a book? Great, but now you need to market it to make sure that all of your writing does not go to waste. There are countless books on marketing, but there are only a few that actually provide good, relevant information. How I sold 80,000 Books is one such book. It is packed full of helpful information that is designed to help the reader get their book out to the world. I highlighted many passages, and I will be re-reading it many times in the future as I continue to self-market my books. Though it is small (only about 70 pages), it is stuffed with information and is also quite cheap. If you are just starting out on your self-publishing and marketing journey, get this book. It will provide you with the needed information to take the first steps on your journey. ( )

Alinka has provided a considerable amount of information for the self publishing market in this short but precise guide to creating and marketing. There are a lot of tidbits that I haven't seen anywhere else and Alinka has put the information in a neat thoughtful package. There's even a flow chart that you can download showing the information in a graphic form. Alinka uses hyperlinks throughout the book to allow you to effortlessly go to websites that contain the information she references. She even demonstrates some of her suggestions at marketing by getting you to add yourself to her email list and get more information on this subject. All in all, this is a very useful little book for anyone considering self publishing and I thank Alinka for putting it all in one neat package. ( )
