I thoroughly enjoyed these books. I was skeptical at first but got hooked on the up and down and unpredictable love stories in between. ( )

When these books originally came out, I didn't pay attention to them. I was tired of how YA seemed to be all the same. When I started blogging books, I realized, I needed to read them. So I started at the beginning- the second set of the two series series. LOL I read The Infernal Devices and reviewed them (2/23/2016) and LOVED them all!

So I went out and decided to purchase the Mortal Instruments collection by Cassandra Clare, the first series of the 2-series series, but the first series to come out. You still with me? Okay, so I also want to explain that I have not watched the movie either. And as far as the tv show on Freeform, formerly ABC Family, it's a yawn.

I did happen to catch about three or four episodes, but found the actress playing Clary to be annoying. Her acting wasn't doing it for me and I felt I was forcing myself to watch the darned show, BUT if they are going by the books, maybe I'll try again. But as for now, I'm going strictly by the books.

Lastly, because there are like, seven books in this series, I'm breaking the review of The Mortal Instruments collection into a 2-day review! LOL I'm also including The Bane Chronicles. Nuff said and away I go...

** I decided to not include The Bane Chronicles in this review, because... well, it's not really The Mortal Instruments and thought I'd be serving a great injustice by having him tag along. So he's later.

Books are from my personal library, for an honest review. ( )

Quotations
I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then.
"There is no pretending," Jace said with absolute clarity. "I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then.
"And now I’m looking at you,” he said, “and you’re asking me if I still want you, as if I could stop loving you. As if I would want to give up the thing that makes me stronger than anything else ever has. I never dared give much of myself to anyone before – bits of myself to the Lightwoods, to Isabelle and Alec, but it took years to do it – but, Clary, since the first time I saw you, I have belonged to you completely. I still do. If you want me.
"And I'm suppose to sit by while you date boys and fall in love with someone else, get married...?" His voice tightened. "And meanwhile, I'll die a little bit more every day, watching.
"You said you were going for a walk!? What kind of walk takes six hours?"
"A long one?
