This is a story primarily aimed at "completists" among Expanse readers. It may not appeal to others. But nonetheless, it is a well-written story that provides enlightening backstory details on Amos. ( )

Book 2 in The Expanse saga.

This time we're back on Earth in a rather dystopian nightmare future Baltimore to meet one of the main story's main protagonists.

A really good little tale and back story.

Next up is The Butcher of Anderson Station. ( )

Worst of the novellas. The backstory for Amos is important, but this was such a slough, even for a short book. ( )

I have come to love Amos Burton over the course of this series, and I was looking forward to reading a novella about his past. I should have known it would be dark and grim, given the tidbits dropped in the book and the TV show.

I can’t say I’m sorry I read it, especially the part about how he got his name, but I was creeped out by his relationship with Lydia and more disturbed than I thought I would be with the violence and lack of conscience he had at such a young age.

It all made sense for the character, but reading it was mostly a bummer. ( )

A novella character study of Amos Burton, set in the "The Expanse" universe. The Expanse is one my all time favorite science fiction stories. ( )
