I was disappointed in this book. At first I thought the the female protagonist was TSTL but it wasn't that exactly. After about the mid point, I just skimmed the rest pf the book. It just felt unsatisfying. Kate was supposed to be a smart journalist but she got suckered by her lying ex-fiance. But it was too obvious to the reader that she was being suckered, which, I think, made the book not work well. I'm just glad that I got it from Amazon as Kindle Unlimited, and so I wasn't paying specifically for this book. ( )

Kate Bradley is a TV reporter who always handles the tough stories - the wildfires and car accident stories that often show up on the evening news. She is shocked and upset when she's assigned to cover a story about someone who found $10,000 in cash on their front porch. Within a few days, 9 more people also find $10,000 left on their porches and the story is picked up by the national TV stations. Kate, always a bit cynical, works to find the real good Samaritan behind the anonymous gifts to find out if it is truly a gift or if the person giving the money away has a secret agenda behind their gifts.

As expected, several people come forward to claim that they are the good Samaritan - there are lots of people in the world looking for their 15 minutes of fame - but when Kate talks to them, she realizes that they are imposers. When someone she knows says that they are the person responsible for the gifts, Kate is surprised but believes them to be telling the truth. Or are they? And do they have a hidden agenda? Kate works to get to the bottom of the mystery and surprises even herself with the results.

This is a fun interesting book about trying the find the 'good guy' instead of the 'bad guy' which was a nice change. I enjoyed the character of Kate and her quest to find the answers to the mystery. Along with the mystery, there is just enough romance to keep it all really interesting. ( )

fullsizeoutput_3601Lindas Book Obsession Review of “Good Sam” by Dete Meserve, Melrose Hill Publishing, April 1, 2014

Dete Meserve, Author of “Good Sam” has written a riveting, captivating, intense, engaging, suspenseful, and enjoyable novel. The Genres for “Good Sam” are Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Mystery, Suspense, with a touch of Romance. The timeline for the story is in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events in the story.

The author describes her intriguing cast of characters as complex and complicated. Kate Bradley is a Los Angeles reporter and journalist, and works on journalist stories such as disasters. It is quite a surprise when Kate is given a case when someone is leaving $100,000 in cash in a bag with the number “8” on it. There seems to be no strings, and no clues as to the Good Samaritan doing this. Kate and others refer to this person giving these gifts as “Good Sam”. Some of the people who are the recipients are very needy of this, and there are a few that are very wealthy.

As Kate and her crew searches for clues and facts, it becomes very apparent that “Good Sam” does indeed know Kate. Soon Kate is getting personal letters from someone who is claiming to be “Good Sam”, and wants to meet with her in person. Is everything what it seems to be, and does everyone seem to be who they say they are?

There are twists and turns, and ups and downs in this story. This was a wonderful page-turner, and I read this in one sitting. I highly recommend this novel to readers who enjoy an exciting and unpredictable novel. ( )

GOOD SAM has a wee bit of creepiness, a touch of suspense and a lot of sweetness. A great book to take away on a vacation/ beach or even just a quick read to take your brain away. Like Calgon. ( you have to be a certain age to get THAT reference )

Someone is leaving huge chunks of money on unrelated folks front porches and Kate needs and wants to find out who and why! She IS a reporter after all and her career needs a boost. Enter 2 men. It's one of them.... I kinda had it figured out ahead of time but it still brought a smile to my face nonetheless. ( )
