What a fun and enjoyable book. It was so great to be back in the world of Jane Madison and her cohorts. ( )

Synopsis: Jane Madison has decided she wants to run a school for witches who haven’t been accepted into a coven. She and David have chosen to put it on his farm and use some of the buildings to house the students, their warders, and their familiars. David is planning to sell off part of his property to be able to defray expenses. Jane’s mom sends her several new students as a ‘birthday present’ and says she’ll pay their bills. Jane’s idea to have them blend their magic as she and her family did doesn’t seem to be working. Her grandmother gets her to bring everyone into the house to live together; of course this creates havoc. The Head Clerk of Hectate’s Court shows up and tells them that the students have to perform an act of magic by a certain deadline to remain a school. If they don’t Jane loses everything, including David and his home. She also finds that David and the head clerk have a history and must work to prove that the clerk is a crook. Jane’s mother saves the day, but in an odd way.

Review: More fun brain candy. ( )

This book did not grab my interest as well as the trilogy it is based on. Once I gave it a fair chance, however, the story sucked me in and I read most of it in one sitting. It sets a good premise for more books, so I'll be interested to see where it goes. I recommend this for fans of her original series. The characters are all familiar and it picks up where the last book left off. ( )

I was a little anxious at reading this book as i had not read any of the previous serious, and was concerned I would be a bit lost, and trying to play catch up but it was easy to just slot in and enjoy the story. It is a witty work of fiction which was entertaining and I look forward for reading other work by the same author. ( )

If you're in the mood for a light, entertaining, quick read, this might be the book for you. The tone throughout is light and cheery and nothing objectionable. ( )
