*Review of an ARC of the upcoming release “The Funny Adventures of Little Nani”

Little Nani, Little Nani, Little Nani…what is there to say about you? There’s a lot to say about you Little Nani. You’re a very cute, very funny, mischievous, but you have a great big heart. This goes for your book as well.

The Funny Adventures of Little Nani is a refreshing change from my normal reads. It’s not that I don’t read children’s books. It’s more that I don’t read them often enough. Also, I don’t run across a book that can easily entertain readers from very young ages all the way up to my age of 23 years and far beyond. The stories in this book speak to a variety of generations with many different aspects.

First I’d like to point out Little Nani herself. She’s a “witch” who learned some spells from an online course. Since she learned to use her wand through these emails, she hasn’t perfected them yet, but Little Nani still tries her best to use her powers for good…even if something strange and unexpected happens. No matter what the outcome, Little Nani seems to find the bright side to everything. What isn’t there to like about her character? She’s just adorable.

All the other characters in this book were just as entertaining and lovable as Little Nani. Aside from Little Nani’s initial friends, the horse who LOVES to read (one of my favorite things about him) and Skinny Nikki & Big Billy, she encounters new friends throughout the book. They range from ghosts, zombies, robots, and not so nice little boys. But they are all great characters in their own way; for their flaws and for their good qualities. I think one of my favorites is Drofxo. But you’ll have to read the book to find out who he is and why he’s so cool. I’m mean like that, I won’t ruin things.

The adventures Little Nani has are worth reading this books for, even if there weren’t other good points to make. What other little girl can go off everyday to meet new friends, use a magic wand, and be so extremely positive no matter what she’s faced with? Bears? She has no fear. Zombies? Please, that’s nothing for Little Nani to handle. A destructive robot? Little Nani can handle it all…and she handles it all with a smile and some kind words.

If this wasn’t enough for one book to have in it, the dialogue between the various characters is filled with wit, snark, spunk, hilarity, and a few other doodads and doohickies. There is never a dull moment when they get to talking.

This book is a great addition to any child’s collection. This book is a great addition to any adults collection. Little Nani will walk right into your lives and warm your hearts. I hope she makes everyone who reads her adventures enjoy life just a little bit more. ( )
