Striking Out was Will Weaver's first YA novel. I was lucky enough to be in one of Professor Weaver's classes while he was going through editing process with his publisher for this book. We got to see the first cover pictures. Even though we never hear the name of the town, it is set in Park Rapids, MN which is the town I was living in at the time. It was such fun to recognize the settings as places I knew well. On top of all this, it is a good story that boys who "don't like to read" will enjoy! ( )
