This short story, later collected in Night Moves and Other Stories, tells of a man who somehow has the ability to jump back through time to visit himself and is using that ability to make the world a better place. Whether it is actually better is well beyond the scope of the story. It is also the story of a man who regularly blacks out and finds himself slightly outside of time watching events unfold.

Powers is obviously exploring ideas of time travel along one's own life time and questions of identity. Especially since it was collected in a somewhat less expensive edition, this one is only for a hard-core Powers fan. That said, Charnel House does produce some truly beautiful books. The paper is so heavy it comes in at the size of a book 3 times its length.

Also, this one has managed to get tagged as both "sustainable agriculture" and "steampunk". The first is obviously a mistake and the second is probably a mistake as none of the traditional steampunk themes appear: set in the 20th century, not Victorian 19th century; businessman, not gentleman-scientist-adventurer.
