An amazing tidbit of sci-fi/fantasy self-referential meta-humor based on a black-velvet painting of a really bad sweater. Very entertaining for Scalzi and Wheaton fans. I'm not so sure anyone else would understand.

"When she played Grendel's mother in Beowulf, it was totally a shout-out to the Orc-American community." ( )

Lots of fun. I had a story I was going to submit for this as well, but missed the deadline to enter it into the contest. :-( ( )

A collection of surreal but amusing responses to the request to explain the cover art, well worth a donation and the time to read them. ( )

A collection of short stories inspired by a painting by Jeff Zugale of John Scalzi as an orc, being attacked by Wil Wheaton riding a unicorn pegasus kitten.

Bill Schafer, who is a good friend of Scalzi's, has a wife named Gretchen who developed Lupus. Scalzi conceived the above illustration, and commissioned Zugale to bring his vision to life. Then Scalzi, Zugale, and Wheaton asked other writers to come up with a short piece based on what they thought was going on in that picture. The resulting chapbook is being offered in e-format only, in return for a donation to the Lupus Alliance of America.

The pieces this chapbook contains range from pure fantasy, to science fiction, to classic epic poetry in the Homeric tradition, as well has humorous interludes. A lot of fun!
