Of the 13 stories in this collection, I enjoyed all of them except one, and that was more a matter of taste than the story being poorly written. Most of the authors I had never heard of and the rest I was only vaguely familiar with (although if you're a regular sci-fi reader, most of these names will be common-place). The collection contains an early William Gibson story that precedes his Nueromancer novel. The Gibson story, "Burning Chrome", is great and I would read his longer fiction based on my reaction to this story. I was surprised that women are well represented in this collection. In fact, what I consider the two best stories, were both written by women: "Souls" by Joanna Rush and "Firewatch" by Connie Willis. I'd recommend this book to anyone with a casual interest in science fiction. no reviews | add a review
