Zeitgeist/ Helpers stats all wrong for 2 days

Definitely something going wrong with the Helpers stats the last 2 days. I keep my own stats on a spreadsheet and update them every week at exactly the same time. So on my spreadsheet I add this week's total then add it to " all time" from last week and then I usually get "all time" this week.
However on Monday each category that I have (8) , was incorrect. Often I'm out by one or two counts but yesterday I was out by about 20 or 30, not one balanced.

Can you wait a few days and check back, to see if it resolves itself?

I'm also noticing Helpers stats not updating consistently, I've done a handful of Distinct Author and Author Picture Contributor a few days ago and my name hasn't showed up yet.

On the other hand my name does currently show up in Common Knowledge Contributors with 6 new edits, yet the tally of Common Knowledge contributions on my own Badges/Stats page hasn't changed and actually has been stuck at 104 for the past two years (all other stats on my own page have been updating properly). I didn't think to bring it up as a bug before and it is probably not connected but thought I'd mention it here.

Distinct authors is also not moving for last week. I have been stuck on 26 for over a week yet I have done over 40 entries this week.

I think there are many other categories that need fixing

Hi. I'm going to revisit this and see which can be sped up, but this was an intentional choice.

We've dealing with database slowness overall, from natural growth but also from just doing a lot more processing work. We need to dig deep into it. My guess is that it's like how 5% of cars cause 75% of pollution. But I slowed down Zeitgeist for a reason--it uses a lot of resources to recalculate this stuff every day (or more), and for almost all uses, it doesn't matter if huge numbers for popular stuff isn't updated daily.

There are ways of speeding it up, depending on what's being calculated. Often something onerous can be made trivial, but it involves work, and this isn't my focus right now.

So, I'll look into it, but it's not a bug, and it's not going to be fixed immediately.

This makes sense -- at least to me. It does suggest putting a notice on the page, though. "These stats do not update regularly. Please allow at least X days for an update."

Of course, that's easy for me to say; I don't pay much attention to my statistics. I do the work I do because it's a Good Thing, not because I'm a statistics-tracker.
