Any Broadview Press Fans?

Broadview Literary Text/Press is one of the presses I like to collect :) I always know when I pick one up I'm going to get something weird and old (in a wonderful way). I especially like their dedication to women writers of the past and all the lesser-known gems out there.

I know presses like Virago Modern Classics and Persephone have groups here (which I also both love and collect) but I was surprised I couldn't even find a thread about Broadview! Maybe it's their association with school? They're not exactly "gorgeous" but they do have decent scholarship published with them that I like having for reading obscure titles, and frankly, as long as the paper stays I don't care much for how a book looks.

Unfortunately, they tend to be priced a bit higher here in Vancouver (what isn't?) so Broadviews are an occasional thing while I'm in grad school. I can still get Viragos cheap if they're beat up and yellow enough, but alas, those fine white pages of the Broadviews glimmer like cocaine to those damn dealers... And Persephone! I'm afraid those will have to wait until I'm salaried :(

Anyways, anyone have a favorite Broadview they recommend?

I have 5 Broadview volumes. As it happens they're all drama.

>2 Crypto-Willobie: Thanks for sharing! I didn't know they printed facsimiles—good to know.

I love Broadview Press books! Their contextual readings and intros are quite good. And the covers!

I have some in my (towering) to-read pile. The purse lipped Oliphant novella was so closely observed. Must settle down with the Maria Edgeworth in New year
