- About My Library
- I use LT as a record of both what I own and what I've read/am reading/hope to read. Many of the entries are for books on my Kindle. I maintain only a small physical library, just books which I use for reference, which have personal meaning to me, or which I haven't read and still hope to.
My collections are arranged to group books which wouldn't necessarily fall together under tags. Most important is the genealogy category, which includes all books I own which might be of use in genealogical research, whether histories, atlases, memorabilia or any other genre, and books from the collections of ancestors. In the same way, books in the reference collection may not be typical reference books, but that is what I use them for.
Most of the books in my library are rated between three and five stars. This is because I rarely finish a book that I entirely dislike, and I don't usually rate a book I haven't finished. Each rating takes into account how I judged the book in comparison to other books of its type, how well it succeeded in its goals, and how much I liked it.
5 stars = the best of the best, a classic of its kind, read this book!
4 stars = very good, would gladly recommend it
3 stars = average, but may still be quite enjoyable
2 stars = it could have been so much better, probably not worth reading
1 star = avoid, avoid, avoid like the plague! - About Me
