Daniel lives in the north of England with his wife Ania, their three children Sophie, Alexander and Philip, and Sophie’s hamster Hazel.

As an English and ESOL teacher, Daniel travelled the world for a decade, living in Barletta (Italy), Kanazawa (Japan), Krakow (Poland) and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). He is a full time lecturer working for Barnsley College.

Daniel works with a local charity called Educational Learning Support Hub (ELSH) (elshub.org.uk) who provide vital support for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in the Barnsley area. He is a trustee of the charity.

Daniel is also a UCU union branch vice chairman, taking on casework for members, and advocating for better pay and conditions for his colleagues.

Away from work, Daniel loves reading, especially historical fiction and sports biographies. His favourite authors include Bernard Cornwell, Conn Iggulden, Phillipa Gregory, Hillary Mantel, George RR Martin, Dan Jones, Shelley Puhak, Ben Kane, Simon Scarrow, David Gemmell, Terry Pratchett, Brian Jacques, Jonas Jonasson and Haruki Murakami.

Daniel also loves playing and watching sport. He started playing rugby at the age of 6, went to Thailand in 2011 to learn Muay Thai, and learned to snowboard while living in Japan in the winter of 2009/10.
