About the Author

During the experimental years of the twenties and thirties, Yokomitsu Riichi played a dynamic role in developing the Japanese novel. With Kawabata Yasunari, he was involved in a "neosensualist" literary movement that tried to describe the world through direct sensory impressions rather than through show more sense interpreted by the mind or emotions. Later, Yokomitsu explored the psychological novel. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
