Kids books by Regina Puckett are always quirky and fun, often with a little twist. The art in this book is simply beautiful as it matches with the great rhymes, as the narrator explores the things she could do if she were different animals, (a puppy, a songbird), even another child… This is great for the preschool crowd, encouraging them to open their imaginations and be something or someone else entirely. Simple sentences make it fun for early readers as well.

The butterflies are horrible bullies to all the animals in the schoolyard. An opportunity comes for the animals to show the butterflies a better way. This is a sweet story about looking out for each other is so much better than being mean. I always enjoy Ms. Puckett’s art, however, this book has some of my favorite illustrations of hers. The animals are quite adorable and the message is timeless.
