I really enjoyed this book! Emily is dealing with a lot in her life. She and her mom have moved in with her mom's fiancé and his son. Her BFF is very friendly with the new girl in school, and she was told that she can't include the piece about the climate march in the schools podcast. I enjoyed the characters in the book. I felt like they were true to life. The struggles that the kids were dealing with felt realistic for their ages. I enjoyed reading the book and planning on handing it off to my middle schooler.… (more)

This is a great book for Junior High School aged students. It touches on a range of topics including social media and influencers, family, climate change and activism, and friendship. The sprinkling in of Emily Post quotes was cute, and I like how Emily realized there is a difference between being polite and allowing people to walk over you.

There is some friend drama at her middle school, as new girl Amelie may be taking her place both with her friend Simone and on her (former!) podcast, and family drama (as Mom moves them in with her boyfriend and his annoying son). Add in some activism as well...Emily's current passion project involves generating student interest for a climate protest. This book also has plenty to say regarding social media and how it impacts and influences young lives. I think the social media focus will really resonate with today's pre-teens!… (more)
