I read this book to learn more about how Tolkien wrote and the interpretation of his marvelous books. I was not disappointed with these short features from various writers and critics. Two thumbs up.

This story was written 20 years after the end of the Civil War. The story cuts through the heart and exposes the bigotry that may lie beneath even the kindest person. Huck Finn experiences what we would call a hellish life but at the same time a life you may find more free than your own. THis story is a good look into the lifestyles of the South before the Civil War when the horrors of slavery were accepted as normal. Huck Finn and his friend Tom Sawyer had the eyes of innocence that could see more clearly than all the adults arround them. The language and use of the "N" word only exemplifies the blindness to the degradation of the Africian American by citizens of the South. I am glad I heard this story unabridged and read by a talented narrator, MIchael Prichard. (About 12 hours of listening)… (more)
