I am not typically a reader of LGBTQ books but this one hit the mark for me. Emmie lives in a small town in Texas with her head football coach father and a Baptist church that everyone belongs to. When she attends a local college, she meets and falls in love with Cameron. Her father chooses his football team over Emmie for being a lesbian, believing that this way of life will lead to eternal damnation. The descriptions of these conflicts are real and heartfelt, which is why I liked the book.
