Haywood Hurley

Although this Harris “Hurley” Haywood biography begins with an introduction to his family, it quickly moves into an in-depth account of his racecar career. With the assistance of co-author Cridland, he describes the circumstance behind the races, times and standings. First, there is a chance race that leads to a longtime friendship with Peter Gregg, a serious Porsche racer and success road racer with over 150 wins. Then there is the stunningly visual look at his racing career. Hundreds of pictures throughout the book highlight his career. He has won several races, including five victories at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, 24 Hours of Le Mans, and two 12 Hours of Sebring. The speed was fast but the races were long. Finally, there are the relationships. He describes the impact family, friends, competitors, and sponsor had on his career and settles some old rumors. A completion car section at the end shows a picture and has statistics for a majority of the cars he drove in competition from 1977 to 1994 stating with a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette and ending with a 2011 Porsche GT3.
