About the Author
"Jane Green" is the pen name for author Jane Green Warburg. She was born in 1968 in London, England. While in her twenties, she worked as a journalist for various national newspapers and magazines in London. At the age of 27, she wrote her first novel Straight Talking, which became a New York Times show more bestseller. Her books helped launch the phenomenon known as "chick lit", and gave her the nickname of "the queen of chick lit". Her novels include The Patchwork Marriage, Another Piece of My Heart, Promises to Keep, Dune Roard, The Beach House, Family Pictures, Tempting Fate, Summer Secrets. and Jenima J. Easy, light read. A bit too cute, a bit predictable. Not my style, but a good summer pick.
Cat and Jemima J is about a meeting between Cat (from another book, Summer Secrets) and Jemima J (from the same named book). I loved Jemima J so was excited to read this before I realised it is a teeny tiny snippet of a "story" that is really just setting up Summer Secrets. Not disappointing to see Jemima J again, but disappointing that it is nothing more than a glimpse.
This book is about Cat, a young woman in London who enjoys partying and drinking. When she finds out her real father is living in Nantucket, shoe goes there to meet him after her mother contacts him. After a night of drinking, she returns to London. She meets Jason and they get married and have a daughter. After a number of years, Cat has joined AA and tries to get sober and repair her relationship with her daughter. She and Jason are divorced and she returns to Nantucket to make amends with her half-sisters.
I really enjoyed this book. It's a light "beach" read and keeps the reader entertained.… (more)
