It got a bit old wading through all of the 'success stories'. That is the extent of this book. It is simply a compilation of successes that people had by following a recommendation in a previous book of his. In other words, lots of little vignettes of people having success in something they did. It might have been more meaningful if I had first read [b:Poke the Box: When Was the Last Time You Did Something for the First Time?|10368067|Poke the Box When Was the Last Time You Did Something for the First Time?|Seth Godin|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347742814s/10368067.jpg|15271334] and been enthralled with it.… (more)

For those new to Seth Godin let me first direct you to his blog as a place to start. It's hands-down the best daily blog I've ever followed for business and marketing discussions, and I've been following it for over two decades now. Zooming out from the blog and his numerous thought-provoking presentations you can find online, there are four books of his which I believe encapsulates the heart of the message he's been crafting and polishing all his life. They are Tribes, Purple Cow, Linchpin, and The Dip. And the message for sustaining a successful profession career is, simply put, be remarkable (Purple Cow and Linchpin), target who your audience is (Tribes), and persevere by focusing on the high-value work or cutting your losses and moving on (The Dip).

The Song of Significance is another solid entry in Seth Godin's bibliography even though it's a variation on his core message.

Seth Godin is borderline brilliant. Subscribe to his daily blogs. They are short and on target regarding life in the 21st century. Great reads for anyone interested in people and the organizations in which they live.

Linchpin is like a bad Khalil Gibran of trite professional improvement advice. Its 90% obnoxiously inspirational, and 10% useful information.
