Some parts of New York have a mild climate and moderate amounts of precipitation( rain, snow, sleet, and hail) all year round. But people in northern New York endure long winters with below-freezing temperatures.
Workers in New York's cities make a wide variety of goods, from books to clothing, cameras to computers. New York is the country's second biggest producer of manufactured goods. Only California makes more goods each year.

In fact, each New Yorker makes more than 5 pounds of garbage, or solid waste, a day. ... Since most of the state's land is used by people, New Yorkers have a hard time finding enough places to put all that waste (See p 54)

Although about 39 percent of New Yorker's garbage is recycled, they should hurry up to deal with the waste problem.
