Good YA novel.
Jimmy Joe “Eyes-Like-Blackberries” is invited on a boat ride by the wise Fish Woman. With permission from his mother Jimmy Joe eagerly sets out on a mission to catch some fish with his new unlikely partner. Soon, they reel in a huge salmon and a pod of orcas show up and one playfully greets the small boat. Jimmy Joe offers the orca “The Gift” of his fresh caught salmon and the pair return to the bay to catch their bucket of stew fish.
