To Kill a Mockingbird: A Graphic Novel by Harper Lee
This graphic novel adaptation captured the essence of the original book. The art was good and hooked me from the first page.
A worthy capture in pictures of this great novel. It was lovely to re-experience the key points of the novel of a colourful and bright utopian society, with major room for debate - a humanity suppressed of feelings to create a balanced and "happy" society. Obviously this book lacks the magic prose style of Huxley, but still the plot is captured perfectly and the emotions of the characters are well displayed through the visual language of the illustrations.

Aldous Huxley's Brave New World is the dullest and dumbest of dystopias, and this adaptation does little to change my opinion about that.
Mostly, the misogyny is what gets to me. This speculative world is incel heaven, where women are shamed if they refuse a man's advances, but then a throwback man shows up so they can still slut-shamed too, just like in back in the good old days. Meanwhile, the guys get to sit around and discuss civics and literature.
And in a PG book about orgies, the number of discreet angles and careful poses necessary to protect the gentle reader reminded me too much of the scenes in the Austin Powers movies where the all the nudity is conveniently blocked by various objects.… (more)
