A well-written short story, but forgettable overall.

Former unwilling conscript Rorke comes back to the country of his youth, seven years after he fled the last battle that saw it fall in the hands of a necromancer.

Though there were no moments that had me as wowed as my favorites in the genre, this is solid, classic fantasy about a flawed protagonist who through sheer luck and his own instincts and choices grows to be greater than he was, that seems to have attracted little notice, maybe due to a somewhat lackluster cover.

Chopper: (A Short Bedtime Horror Story) by David L. Felts is not a kid's bedtime story. This is a story about a kid that has a monster under the bed and the monster plans to leave now that the kid is older. This is certainly not for kid's as a bedtime story. A thought-provoking ending surprise ending! Clever story!

Paper Children by David L. Felts is a very dark short story. It is an emotional story of a friendless girl with her paper animals and abusive stepfather. Written well enough to give the reader the emotions the writer wanted. The subject is not what I expected when I started reading the story and would not have normally this type. The ending was quite a surprise.
