META MAGICK is a book on 21st century magick. In a nutshell Farber uses scientific principles to break our reality down to a quantum level. This is where it gets into the so-called "spooky science". He explains how to use techniques such as neuro-linguistic programming to change one's reality. After all, what we perceive as reality is nothing more than our brain's interpretation of particles and waves. When we see a "chair", there isn't really a chair there beyond us. Its very "chairness" stems from our observation and interpretation of it. Therefore our reality is nothing more than language and symbols. The meaning of these language and symbols can be changed or "hacked" via neuro-linguistic programming, therefore effecting and changing our reality in accordance with one's will.

Farber also talks about the creation of memetic entities. These are entities or consciousnesses made of ideas and language. Some examples of memetic entities are: money, rock 'n roll, democracy, the internet, and all corporations (hence the term "legal entity). All are able to reproduce much like viruses and infect their program into other minds.

The book is incredibly in-depth; I'm only giving the barest of cliff-notes here. What I like best about Farber is, he talks in plain, easy-to-understand English. He walks the reader through the whole process. This is a book that could easily be filled with terms most folks aren't familiar with, but instead Farber eschews the scientific jargon in favor of clarity. A full third of the book is devoted to an exercise called "The 36 Days of Atem". Basically you do an exercise each day. By the end of the 36 days you'll have (hopefully) gained access to a memetic entities created by Farber, Atem "The Opener of the Way", an entity designed to streamline neuroplasticity, transformation, transmission, and understanding.

It's really an incredible book and has been getting a ton of "buzz" on many of the online occult forums. The book is designed and sized to make it usable as a "workbook" (large and square so you can open it up on the floor and it will stay open). Little bits of forethought like that are appreciated. It is complete with 4 separate appendixes and glossary. My only gripe is that it is trade paperback and the pages aren't the best paper, but it's not enough to demote it a star.

While technically this book is on the subject of Thelema, it is a fine, imaginative look into modern ritual magic in general. Non-Thelemic magicians will find interesting ideas herein as well.
