Well, it took me a while to finish this book, and I have mixed feelings about it. Although some chapters in the beginning were really engaging and strong, as the book continued, it felt more and more tedious —it turned into a journal of Julie's life. Although Julie does grow as a character, it still does not reach a fulfilling point. Some issues in the book remained unresolved —and you would think that in more than 600 pages, there would be enough space to do that. Furthermore, pages and pages are dedicated to small details that do not contribute anything to the story —sometimes, it felt like I was learning more about what Julie ate than anything.
This is not a book for everybody. If you are into reading journals, then this might be for you.
