In this outing, Cornbread and Poppy compete in a bike race. Cornbread just wants to have fun with their friend, but Poppy is intent on winning - especially, beating Gerald, who has won so many times before ("and he was not nice about it"). But when part of Poppy's plan causes a pileup, they go back for their friend Cornbread instead of seizing the opportunity to win. Friends are more important than victory, after all.

K-Gr 2—In a remarkable chapter book that teaches problem-solving skills, a kind squirrel faces her fears. Cordell's
art is detailed, emotional, and action-packed; the heroine is brave; and the storytelling is outstanding. Delightful.

This wook was so amazing I definitely want it in my classroom. This book was about a young girl who saves a wolf pup and then she needs the wolves to save her when it gets too dark and cold. Perfect for any age of kids. There are not many words and it focuses a lot on the illustrations
