I quite enjoyed the book. The idea is good, it's fast-paced but the main characters still have depth. There were quite a few very sudden changes of scene, though, which threw me a little, as I listened to the audio book, and there were no headers to prepare me for the changes. The narrator did a good job, transporting the characters' emotions really well. It took me a while to get into the setting, but then the book grew on me, and I rooted for the protagonists.
fantasy fiction (a planet peopled by goblins and magic; pending dragopocalypse). The story took some time to get into (lots of odd characters to follow, perhaps a bit more fantasy elements than I'm in the mood for right now) and I suspect the actual dragons would not show up until at least halfway through the story (so tired of waiting for dragons! seriously).
Fairly straightforward plot, but I love the characters, and Adams has a pretty wild imagination and a turn of phrase that leans toward the poetic every now and then.
